Abigail Steinert

Architecture Graduate Student

Abigail has studied at Kansas State University since the fall of 2015 for the entirety of the five-year M. Arch program as well as an additional year in the college of APDesign. She is currently a fifth-year graduate student and has already completed minor degrees in Leadership and Community Planning through Kansas State University. Abigail has a passion for sustainable design and was inspired for low-cost residential architecture while visiting refugees after losing their houses in the 2010 tsunami and floods on a mission trip with her father to The Philippines. Her family also donated their time by volunteering to cook for the homeless shelter in her home town weekly for six years. These two factors contributed to Abigail’s passion for sustainable and affordable design.

In her free time, Abigail creates sustainable and eco-friendly products to sell on Etsy. She also enjoys spending time with her husband, Alex, and their adorable Miniature Australian Shepard, Java.

Favorite Architect: Alvar Aalto. She loves the way he masterfully integrates natural light into spaces through hidden windows where light bounces off the curves and surfaces.
